Terms & Conditions & Stuff

This is NOT a race, it's a group of people going for a run. Albeit a very long run.

Your Ability: You MUST be confident that you are able to run, camp, carry kit and generally be cool on inhospitable upland and mountain terrain in all weathers. We will always have at least two people running together for safety. You should also have cash and cards with you in case you need to take a bus forward to meet the run at a resupply point or at the campsite at the end of the day.

Kit: There is no kit-check, nor any mandatory kit, but we do STRONGLY SUGGEST that you carry suitable kit to be able to cope with whatever this lovely island can throw at you. Please read the Kit page for ideas of what will be required and ensure you have the essentials. As the run takes place in June you might not need snowshoes, but watch the weather forecast beforehand, as anything can happen.

Food & Water: As this is a self-supported run you will be expected to bring food and water with you, and a means to cook if you decide to take reheat/freeze dried meals. Where possible the start of each day will be close to either a pub, cafe or local shops so the runners can resupply before setting off. During the day we will be stopping at predetermined resupply points to top up with water, food and possibly pop into a local cafe for coffee and cake.

Litter: Is unnecessary and just plain wrong. In an attempt to have a positive impact during TLWD we will be encouraging all runners to bring a carrier bag and clear any littered trails as they go. With the amount of kit you'll be carrying this will be minimal extra weight and makes a big difference.

Getting there and back: Each daily stage has a separate page where the start & end points are given, a basic map is available and coordinates of each resupply point. Where possible we'll also give details of local public transport so that you can park a car at any point to join the run, and get back via bus or train. Or just leave the car at home and get there and back entirely on public transport.

Insurance: Dog Tag are good. If you want proper cover. We don't aim to ever be in a situation where a rescue is required. If the weather is too bad to run a section we will divert to a back-up route, road route or if all else fails postpone the stage and push the other stages back by a day. In the event this happens it'll be made clear in the blog and on social media.

Other Stuff: This is designed to be a fun and challenging attempt to run JOGLE self-supported. Join in & have some fun on the hills & trails. Just be careful out there.
